Both the P99 and the SW99 are built on the same frame and encompass a majority of common features. Robust semi-automatics chambered in the increasingly popular 10mm/.40 calibre. The 40SW is meant to fill the capability gap between the lighter 9mm and the heavy hitting but slower .45cal. The FBI have selected the SW99 as their issue sidearm of choice for the majority of agents. Now, if only certain military agencies would drag their own pistols into the 21st century.

I own the SW99. While it is an ok pistol, I am not very fond of the trigger at all. The double action pull is all right, but the single action pull could be better.

i own a sw99 with decocker ,it is the best weapon i have ever owned.it is nice to have a light weight .45 cal to carry.this gun is deadly accurate and smooth, less kick than a 1911.it is a bullet digester any type ammo works from target to +p this gun rocks.i recommend this weapon for anyone looking for the ultimate .45.

i own the .45 cal sw99 and let me tell you, this gun is well worth the money. I am not partial to any specific type of gun,(1911,composite,ect.) but i can say the double action trigger is great for dead aiming. i agree that the single action trigger pull is long and streneous but after the long pull, the double action kicks right in. i liked it so much that i bought the 9mm as well. these are very accurate and user friendly. i've got rid of my glocks and now carry my sw99's
