Sage International of Oscoda, Michigan have updated the venerable Springfield Armory M1 Scout rifle for the modern battlefield. Known as the M1A Scout EBR (Enhanced Battle Rifle), the M14 EBR/M1A EBR was developed to win a five-year Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (Crane NSWC) contract to supply the U.S. Naval Special Warfare (SPECWAR) and Marine Corps communities (perhaps MCSOCOM and Force Recon units) with a SPECOPS-ready SOPMOD accessory-compatible M14 rifle/carbine. With an M14 barrel, receiver and trigger group as its core, Sage's EBR sports a totally new look, from the flash suppressor/compensator on its working end to a retractable buttstock (with graduated stop adjustments) and an adjustable cheek piece. Four MilStd 1913 (Picatinny) rails surround the barrel; another above an added pistol grip accepts standard night-vision and other accessories. An equally well-designed pintle mount system with a quick-release lever lets even an average shooter accurately engage targets out to the maximum effective range of the 7.62 round — either in full auto or semi-auto mode.
Specifications
Calibre: 7.62 x 51 NATO (.308)
Weight (no scope or devices): 11 pounds, 10 ounces with a 22-inch M14 barrel
Attachments: Night Aiming Devices, Thermal Sights, Various sighting systems, Tripod, Bipod, Door Entry system (12g shotgun)
Reviewed by the staff of Armed Forces Journal and US Special Operations members at the recent Blackwater USA Shoot Out, everyone who fired the weapon came away impressed. Clearly not designed for mass issue, this weapon will fit into a niche currently occupied by the M4 SOPMOD Carbine and various 7.62 systems. Essentially designed for urban sniping, the old warhorse is now ready to soldier on for the future.
Also, this years shot show in las vegas was great
if anybody attended you would have seen sage's new

What type of vertical grip is on this weapon? I've been looking, but I haven't been finding.
By the way, anything other than a walnut stock on a Garand is just wrong.

I chose the ARMS #23 Hogue pistol grip. It has a throw lever for quick detach.
BTW, I'm told SAGE will not produce a stock for the Garand.
They will instead
produce a stock for the Ruger AC556/Mini-14.
I recently handled and photographed the prototype and can say it's a winner.
It looks real nice next to my MK14 SEI.

Yes, the beast is finished except for the AN-PVS14 NV I want to add.
Wait till you see the new stripped down, light weight MOUT version SEI is building for me.
And then there is the M14K ...
